My Summer - Part 1

Midnight walks through the city streets whose red, yellow, green, and neon lights cast their glow on black streets that show their age. Chatter covers the sidewalks discussing politics, the state of the world, what they didn't eat that day, the amount of beer consumed thus far, the flat tire they got on their bicycles, and how rent is kicking their ass. It's summertime and the living is easy, on the surface at least. I still haven't grasped the concept that summer must be over in another month and a half. And while in truth and fairness I'm really not a summer girl, the thought of the sky getting depressed at the early hour of 5 pm, the wind lashing at my teary eyes, the ice that you don't see on the sidewalk while making your way to the train station- yeah, those things help me to appreciate this 103 degree weather the city has seen for the past two weeks. This is my attempt to relish in the summer memories, to appreciate the sun-kissed skin that has been awarded to me, to enjoy the sun choosing to disappear to the moon in the 8 o'clock hour. Thank you, summer, you have treated me well, and I do look forward to the sweltering days and endless moonlit nights we will share.
