Jean Paul Gaultier - Fall 2012 Couture

Dandy has made it's return in the Jean Paul Gaultier's Fall 2012 Couture collection, whose refined speech and impeccable detail topped with an air of nonchalance created a standard that anyone could spend a lifetime attempting to achieve. This collection, for men and women, crossed gender lines that, in reality, should have never been created- Men in skirts and chiffon bodysuits, women in top hats and tuxedo pants The bold precision, geometric shapes, inspiration of Art Deco appeared in the evening collection consisting of beaded fringed flapper dresses and velvet. Gowns constructed to cover the woman without covering the woman. Tailcoats spoke loudly, clearly, poignantly time and time again making their appearance as male couture, crocodile, and an adornment to a bridal gown. This collection embodied the art, the form, the history, the future, the narrative of Paris- consider your history lesson complete.
